Nothing in President-elect Obama's past has remotely suggested that he was a centrist. We are now 1/2 way through his nominations for Cabinet positions and it looks quite moderate. Well, except for Hillary anyway!?!?! Will she lean more liberal or more moderate like Bill? By putting her in State, Obama did get her away from domestic and Health Care issues.
Just a month ago it looked like John Kerry was going to be Secretary Of State. Robert Kennedy was going to be brought to the table along with his sister. Which means the 800 pound gorilla in the room, Edward Kennedy, was going to be the Edgar Bergen to Barack Obama's Charlie McCarthy. Things looked bleak indeed especially for all the Conservatives who stayed home on November 4th.
What could have caused one of the biggest turn-around, the biggest flip-flop in history?
No one thinks that it was President-elect Obama's secret plan!
President-elect Obama started receiving Presidential-level security briefings including the "Threat Matrix" after the election. These briefings are at a higher level than what a Senator would receive.
It is conceivable that President-elect Obama's game plan changed after viewing what he would be up against in the next four to eight years.
He has since toned down his anti-Bush rhetoric with regards to foreign policy. He has kept Robert Gates on as Defense Secretary. He has selected General James Jones, a supporter of John McCain, as National Security Advisor. It is also rumored that Chuck Hagel with be offered a position in the new administration.
In short he has decided that continuity, not change, is needed with regards to Foreign Policy. It can only be surmised that a huge threat is eminent and that President-elect Obama realizes that we cannot change course at this time.

Just Say NO to Jamie Gorelick
In my previous post, I warned that President-elect Barack Obama should not hire established politicians for his cabinet. It breaks his promise to set a new tone in Washington. It also breaks his promise to bring change. By hiring any of the Gang of 25, it'll be business as usual, more partisan and unproductive. The President-elect went and named two people off this list -- Rahm Emanuel and John Podesta! So much for promises and change!
One of the people I highlighted was Jamie Gorelick. I stated then:
The second would be her involvement as Vice Chariman of the Federal National Mortgage Association (Fannie Mae). During her tenure, Fannie Mae developed a $10 Billion dollar accounting scandal. Little did we know that a collapse was also building at the time. Even while this was building, Jamie Gorelick was quoted in an interview with the following statement:
To have a person who's actions were a direct cause of both 9/11 and the Financial Collapse is irresponsible and dangerous. Americans across this country should vocally and forcefully oppose this appointment.

During the Clinton Administration, her memo to our intelligence services erected "The Wall" between the CIA and FBI. It is also unique that she was a member of the 9/11 Commission which allowed her to cover this up and place the blame elsewhere."Well the rumors have been surfacing that Jamie Gorelick is President-elect Obama's first choice to be Attorney General. This appointment MUST be defeated for several reasons. The first would be the aforementioned memo that all but assured that a disaster as big as 9/11 would not be uncovered in time. It also barred anti-terror investigators from accessing the computer of Zacarias Moussaoui. But there is more.

Fannie Mae is among the handful of top-quality institutions."Just over a year later the government uncovered that Fannie Mae was hiding $9 Billion in unrecorded losses. The hiding enabled Fannie Mae to report that they were meeting earnings targets. This triggered bonuses to all the top executives of which Jamie Gorelick received $779,625!

Won't Get Fooled Again?
Obama ran his campaign on Change. He was going to change the tone in Washington and even "cross the aisle" to garner Republican support. When looking at the candidates for an Obama cabinet, a list of 25 party insiders that he should avoid became apparent. If he started choosing people from this list for his cabinet, then the tone in Washington will not be changed.
His first choice turned out to be Rahm Emanuel for Chief Of Staff, a harsh partisan who has serious ethical issues. Then, he chose former Clinton Chief Of Staff, John Podesta, to head his transition team! He has already chosen two names off this list of Democratic party insiders who have no intention of "healing the divide".
They want to crush all opposition and rule as lords over the populace. The signs are starting to show that this is a correct statement. Chuck Schumer has already brought forth the reinstatement of the "Fairness Doctrine". Far from being fair, it is a tool to stifle any opposition voices in media especially talk radio. They do not want to compete in the media's arena. They want to dominate by fiat!
John Kerry has been openly courting the position of Secretary Of State. If there ever was one person who signals that this country will subjugate its own constitution in favor of the European Union, it is John Kerry! We left Europe and its laws behind to forge our own nation -- A better nation. Why would we let people with a historical Oedipal complex hand it back. Bet the French will LOVE him!!!
Al Gore will hog tie our economy based on his hysterical belief in global warming. Scientific reports show that the planet in fact plateaued in it's natural cycle over the last 7 years. The cycle is caused by fluctuations in the sun's output. While the Earth has been warming over the past several years, so have other planets in our solar system. During the Renaissance, the Earth was as warm as it is now. Then, the cycle caused the Earth to fall into what is now called the Little Ice Age in the 18th and 19th centuries. We've been on the upswing since then. I found it very humorous that two global warming conferences were postponed due to severe blizzards! His carbon credits are garbage science's version of the Catholic Church's indulgences -- The rich will get to use the resources while the poor will be left cold and without transportation!

Barack Obama should eschew nominating any of these people to posts within his administration. They will cause problems, conflicts of interest, and corruption which will hamper any change he may want to enact. Find new, fresh faces for these positions. Find people who have no self interests in subjugating a President Obama. Find people that actually want to get some work done even if it means "crossing the aisle" and working with Republicans.

Rahm Emanuel, Political Insider
Barack Obama's promise to change Washington has started to go by the wayside. He has chosen former Clinton Administration pit bull and Chicago political machine insider Rahm Emanuel to be his Chief Of Staff.
Emanuel served as Clinton's Director of Finance during Clinton's first campaign for the Presidency. He served as Assistant to the President for Political Affairs and then Senior Advisor to the President for Policy and Strategy during Clinton's presidency.
After the Clinton Presidency, Emanuel was elected to the House of Representatives where he immediately was tabbed to be the Democratic Caucus Chairman. Nancy Pelosi convinced Emanuel not to seek the Majority Whip position. In return, Nancy Pelosi agreed to assign the Democratic Caucus Chairman position more responsibilities, including "aspects of strategy and messaging, incumbent retention, policy development and rapid-response communications" (see Wikipedia).
He is noted for being Clinton's attack dog and Democratic Pit Bull known for openly mocking people with whom he disagrees as shown in his entry in Wikipedia:
he reportedly told British Prime Minister Tony Blair, prior to Blair appearing in public with Clinton for the first time after the Lewinsky scandal, "This is important. Don't fuck it up." Emanuel is said to have "mailed a rotting fish to a former coworker after the two parted ways." On the night after the 1996 election, "Emanuel was so angry at the president's enemies that he stood up at a celebratory dinner with colleagues from the campaign, grabbed a steak knife and began rattling off a list of betrayers, shouting 'Dead! ... Dead! ... Dead!' and plunging the knife into the table after every name." His "take-no-prisoners attitude" earned him the nickname "Rahm-bo".This does not bode well for change within Washington! What it does is show that Barack Obama has no intention of healing divides, crossing the aisle, or grasping for the better angels of our nature.

In his capacity as a senior White House official in the Clinton administration, Rahm Emanuel actively participated in putting together a strategy to fast-track legal and illegal immigrants through any means possible for citizenship so that they could vote for the Democratic Party.The choice of Rahm Emanuel is also strange since Emanuel supports the war in Iraq and worked to get pro-war Democrats into office for the 2006 elections. Does this signal that Obama will let another promise go by the wayside? In this instance, I hope so!
An article from 2006 raised speculation regarding a possible connection between Emanuel's Congressional election success and convicted former Chicago water department boss Don Tomczak.
He lied to the American People regarding he prior knowledge of the Mark Foley E-mails in 2006. He and other Democrats accused the Republicans of trying to cover up the E-mails -- that they were never shown the E-mails. It has been proven that the Democrats including Rahm Emanuel were given copies of the E-mails for review in October 2005!
USA Today reported in late January 2007 that Emanuel failed to disclose that he was an officer of a family charity, a violation of law requiring members of Congress to report non-profit leadership roles.
Just last month, ABC News implicated Rahm Emanuel in the scheme to have Democrat Congressman Tim Mahoney pay $121,000 to his mistress so that she would not file a lawsuit against the congressman! Emanuel worked this deal so that the lawsuit would not hurt Tim Mahoney's re-election bid!
Barack Obama promised to change the tone in Washington. Instead, he has taken a big step towards making it harsher! He is also inviting corruption into his own administration! He is signaling that he's going to grab the better angels and let Rahm Emanuel crush them in his fingers!

All through his campaign, Barack Obama as portrayed himself as an outsider. He has convinced a lot of voters that he will bring change to Washington.
However, after the news releases on November 4th, 2008, I am convinced that this is so far from reality that I felt compelled to create this blog.
Many government organizations have a duly elected official called an Ombudsman whose sole job is to keep a watch on government, receive complaints, and investigate any abuses or capricious acts made by public officials. This blog will also serve in that capacity.
This is being done because the team that Barack Obama has started to assemble consists of people from the corrupt Chicago political machine.
Vigilance is our best tool to fight this machine.
